Empirical
Analysis of Carbon Credit Trading
-- Sumeet Gupta
Carbon
is one of the major components of Green House Gases
(GHG). The reduction of carbon is a major challenge
in today's global environment. Effective control of
GHG is possible only if the emission trading mechanism
is vibrant enough to provide incentives to green technologies
and processes. Carbon credit is being used as an incentive.
It involves the buying of carbon units from the middleman
who aggregates the carbon credits from Clean Development
Mechanism (CDM). They are then sold to the buyers in
the industrial sector that helps them offset carbon
emission.
